Royal Indian Hotel, located in Chitpur, on one of the congested lanes of Burrabazar. However, the ambience outside does not affect the subtle environment of the restaurant inside.

There are two sections- Ac and non ac. So you can choose according to your preference. The decor is simple and gives a old feel of the time when Kolkata used to be Calcutta. Simple wooden tables and chairs. They have family cabins with the Purdah which adds to the nostalgia of the Mughal era.

Coming to the food, which is their USP. The food here is just delicious. The Biriyani served in Royal Indian Hotel is the complete combination of perfect amount of spices and light aroma with the perfectly cooked meat. Though their Biriyani doesnt have the iconic aaloo(potato) and egg which are the main ingredients of Kolkata biriyani. The taste of the biriyani is so delicious maintaining the Nawabi biriyani style.

Their Mutton Chaap is probably the best in the city. Unlike other restaurants, Chaap here is chopped meat dipped in a rich gravy made from it’s own fat. The Chaap complements the biriyani in an amazing way.
